Mobile operator Three (3) UK has added Velocent's OneVu 3G Mobile Broadband network monitoring system to its platform. OneVu is designed to assists mobile operators in isolating and prioritizing network quality problems that affect customer satisfaction and loyalty.
The huge growth and impact that Mobile Broadband traffic has had on 3's network is no secret, which has resulted in some customers experiencing very slow speeds and poor general performance. A similar situation has also been witnessed on almost all of the major UK mobile operators.
OneVu effectively monitors the performance of every packet, of every context, for every subscriber to help the operator understand where its network is failing customers and why. It can even isolate the worst cell site paths prioritized by those that produce the most problems for 3UK customers.
Bruce Peterson, Velocent Founder and CEO, said:
"OneVu is unique ... because it actually utilizes the behaviours of customer's own packets traversing through the network to measure peak throughput, mobile network congestion, and latency that affect customer experience. No other monitoring system has a state based engine that correlates and calibrates the signalling packets and user plane packets of every session to provide true customer experience visibility."
Three (3) recently revealed that 96% of its mobile traffic was data (Internet) and has been working to try and ease its network strain. In November last year it became the first mobile operator to deploy a fixed line style Traffic Management system on its Mobile Broadband network, which specifically sought to clamp down on excessive P2P usage during peak timers (
