The business ISP side of Virgin Media UK, ntl:Telewest Business, has today officially been rebranded under the
Virgin Media Business (VMB) flag. The "new" brand will now seek to increase investment in its network and provisioning functions to become a clear alternative to BT.
Neil Berkett, CEO of Virgin Media, said:
"Our next generation consumer services, in broadband and video on demand, are unrivalled in speed and quality of service. There is now a significant opportunity to leverage the full power of our fibre optic network in the business telecoms market. Virgin Media Business will take our strong customer-centric approach to a growing and under-served market in which there is a need for a compelling and distinctive alternative to BT."
Mark Heraghty, MD of Virgin Media Business, said:
"We have big ambitions for Virgin Media Business. Delivering fabulous fundamentals - great service, good quality and value for money - is at the heart of our strategy. Over the last three years we’ve invested heavily to put the building blocks in place, which means we’re more than fit to wear the Virgin badge.
In the last 12 months in particular, we’ve started to reap the rewards of that focussed investment. Projects such as working with the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Partnership (HIOW) to deliver a cutting-edge £90 million network that will transform public services in the region are testament to our ability to drive and underpin radical growth.
Our customers’ success is ours and, as Virgin Media Business, we’re committed to investing in the things that are important to our customers."
Unlike most of its competitors, VMB will provide each business customer with their own regionally based, account team to manage their needs. The group currently has 40 offices located across the UK to help serve this. Virgin Media is also the only truly national Next Generation Network (cable) in the country, although BT will probably catch up to a similar level of NGA coverage by around the end of 2013.
