Communications provider
Redstone Managed Solutions UK has launched a new range of "
next-generation" business broadband packages for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs). The service offers download speeds of up to 20Mbps and includes an unlimited usage allowance (Fair Usage Policy) with all of its packages.
Nikki Ratcliffe, Redstone’s resident PR bod, said:
"Businesses need to be aware of the differences between broadband for business and residential internet services. The internet is an organisation’s lifeline to its customers and stakeholders. Office broadband must perform cost-effectively and deliver maximum performance under all circumstances.
While residential broadband is already a commodity market, decisions about business broadband cannot just be based on the headline cost. Reduced cost can also mean increased contention, reduced support, tighter data transfer limits and less focus on providing business-class connectivity and support. Not all broadband is created equal and it’s important to compare products on a like-for-like basis, taking into account all the features and restrictions."
Despite the blurb, Redstone's standard '
Business Broadband' packages still appear to tout a 50:1 contention ratio, which is very much the preserve of residential class services; only their '
Enhanced' options offer a more respectable 20:1.
Free migration and a static IP address are included with all 12 month contract packages, although their business prices remain private. Those taking the service for two years would also benefit from a free connection and free wireless router.
