Mobile operator Three (3) has deployed a new Mobile Broadband Bus as part of its
Race Online 2012 commitment to help get more than 100,000 people in the UK online. The Race Online 2012 project hopes to get "
100% of the UK population online by the time of the London Olympics [2012]", which could be rather hard to achieve.
The Bus was designed by Three to demonstrate the benefits of Mobile Broadband to people as it travels around the country, and to help make this the first nation in the world where everyone knows how to use the world wide web.
It will stop at various locations around the country where the team will be giving free internet advice and training, and showing people how they can use the internet to stay in touch with friends and family, search and apply for jobs, seek advice and save money by paying their bills online.
The CEO of Three (3) UK, Kevin Russell, said:
"Three is proud to be the first mobile network operator to commit to The Race Online 2012. Three wants to make internet access simple, fair and affordable for everyone. With the UK’s biggest 3G network we already offer more people mobile broadband than any other, and now through our partnership with Race Online, we can begin to demonstrate the benefits of being connected."
The mobile operator has also committed to providing internet access to a number of individuals, charities and community groups who work with socially, economically and digitally excluded individuals to help demonstrate the benefits of being online.
