Broadband ISP Eclipse Internet has more than doubled the usage allowances of its business focused 40Mbps (2-10Mbps uploads) speed "
superfast" fibre optic broadband packages, which are based off BT's new
Fibre-to-the-Cabinet ( FTTC ) technology. BT hopes to reach 40% of homes by 2012 with the product, rising to 66% in 2015.
The service itself became one of the first such products to launch in April 2010, although many balked at the £39.95 per month starting price for its 50GB (GigaByte) usage allowance package (
Eclipse Fibre). However that has now been raised to
100GB and the
Eclipse Fibre Pro option has also risen from
60GB to 200GB!
Eclipse Fibre - £39.95 per month
Up to 40Mbps download speed (12Mbps Guaranteed throughput)
Up to 2Mbps upload speed
50GB 100GB usage during peak hours (Unlimited Usage 11pm - 9am)
Free vDSL modem
12 Month Contract
£75 Installation Fee
Eclipse Fibre Pro - £49.95 per month
Up to 40Mbps download speed (12Mbps Guaranteed throughput)
Up to 10Mbps upload speed
60GB 200GB usage during peak hours (Unlimited Usage 11pm - 9am)
Free vDSL modem
Free WAN router
12 Month Contract
£75 Installation Fee
Each package also comes with Static IP's and 10 mailboxes (250MB storage, per mailbox). At that price the services are now more viable for heavy residential users too, although it's still too expensive to compete on the domestic playing field.
