Mobile operator Orange UK (
Everything Everywhere) has joined Three (3) and Vodafone in launching its own portable battery powered Wi-Fi based Mobile Broadband USB Modem router (
Novatel Wireless 3352). Orange has also refreshed its existing deals and now offers existing
Pay Monthly,
Pay As You Go and ISP
Home Broadband customers a £5 discount on all new Mobile Broadband price plans.
The new device appears to have forgone the
MiFi moniker of rival services and simply called itself an
Orange Mobile WiFi instead. The device makes it possible for Wi-Fi enabled products, such as laptops and tablet PCs, to simultaneously access the internet through a single Mobile Broadband connection.
Mobile WiFi is available on all Orange mobile broadband plans, starting from a one-off fee of £49 depending on the package taken. Speaking of which, Orange has also reintroduced its 12 month price plans to their
Dolphin and
Racoon Mobile Broadband packages.
Both 1 and 12 month
Dolphin plans now come with a 1GB monthly allowance, and select packages offer an additional 1GB "
quiet time" data allowance (from midnight until 4pm) as well as the option of unlimited data through
BTOpenZone public Wi-Fi Hotspots.
Meanwhile occasional mobile broadband users can choose between Orange’s
Racoon packages, which offer 500MB (0.5GB) on 1 and 12 month plans, or a '
Pay as you Consume' option with no line rental for existing Orange customers, who simply pay 5p for each Megabyte (MB) of data.
