Following service launch in early September 2010 (
here),
Nomad Digital has now completed most of its work and announced that passenger Wi-Fi is available on
East Midlands Trains' entire
Meridian fleet (27 units) covering journeys on the
London-Sheffield and
London-Nottingham routes.
Additionally four of the eleven
MKIII HSTs have passenger WiFi installed and, over the
next two months, the service will be rolled out across the MKIII HST Fleet. Nomad has a
5 year contract to provide its on-train technology, which includes payment services and a passenger helpdesk.
Nigel Wallbridge, Executive Chairman of Nomad Digital, said:
"We are pleased to have helped East Midlands Trains deliver passenger Wi-Fi on their Meridian fleet in a timely fashion, and look forward to completing the installation of the MKIII HST's."
The new service has apparently been well received, gaining plenty of positive passenger feedback. The service is complimentary to
First Class passengers and available for a small charge to
Standard Class passengers. The Wi-Fi service can now also be utilised by corporate customers using
iPass services.
