Popular ISP Be Broadband has announced the appointment of its new
Managing Director (MD), Chris Stening, whom arrives from his previous MD post at the BSkyB owned SME ISP Easynet Connect UK. Chris will take responsibility for creating and articulating the company’s vision as well as strategy planning.
BE's previous MD,
Tom Williams, announced his intention to leave the ISP for pastures new last October 2010. Williams made BE into an extremely strong consumer broadband ISP and it appears as if Stening plans to turn the operator into more of a business / wholesale operation. It's unclear what this could mean for the future of their consumer services.
Chris Stening, MD BE, said:
"BE has an excellent reputation in the market and I look forward to working with our Head of BE Wholesale, Dan Cunliffe to develop our wholesale business [BE Wholesale]. Our superior quality network with proven reliability means that it’s truly built for business applications such cloud computing, VoIP or HD video conferencing. We’re the newest competitor in the wholesale broadband market and, backed by O2/Telefonica, we offer a refreshing, credible and reliable alternative to the current incumbent providers."
Felix Geyr, Head of Home and Broadband O2 UK, added:
"Chris has impressive credentials in the telecoms market. His strong leadership and shrewd strategic abilities make him a key player for BE. Additionally, his energy and enthusiasm for success will ensure the company continues to grow and further strengthen its position in the marketplace."
Maybe he'll even encourage them to re-design their website too. Oh how we long for the days of severed heads floating aloft weird pink stars, no seriously.
