Business ISP
Powernet has today launched its own range of UK
superfast broadband packages that use the latest 'up to' 40Mbps capable FTTC technology. Being a business provider their package is naturally a bit more expensive but it does have a few benefits.
The service itself is "
uncapped", though the providers website claims that a
Fair Usage Policy (FUP) is still applicable, and also offers upload speeds of up to 10Mbps and a Static IP. As for price, you can expect to pay £49.99 +vat per month and then there's also a one-off activation fee of £50.
Tony Tugulu, Founder and CEO of Powernet, said:
"Until now, both smaller businesses and those with branch networks have been forced to turn to one of the larger ISPs to receive top broadband speeds in many areas of the UK. The advent of FTTC is game-changing, giving smaller, innovative, service-based ISPs such as Powernet the opportunity to match the broadband speeds offered by the larger ISPs.
This means that customers can now benefit from the best of both worlds; high broadband speeds with top notch, personalised customer service that only a smaller ISP can provide. Today's announcement demonstrates our commitment to providing the maximum range of options for our customers."
As usual it's interesting to compare this with what is being offered by some of Powernet's rivals. IDNet offers an 80GB capped package for £39.50 +vat per month (£40 setup), while Zen Internet have a 100GB deal with slower 2Mbps upload speeds for £38 (£75 setup). As before, these are business services and
should not be confused with home packages.
By far one of the most expensive business FTTC providers is Timico UK, which charges £50 per month (£75 setup) for a 100GB allowance on a lengthy 24 month contract. Meanwhile one of the best value business options is from Eclipse Internet UK, which gives 200GB (plus unlimited usage 11pm-9am) for £49.95 (£75 setup). It also includes a free router as well as the needed VDSL modem.
