Boingo, a worldwide wireless broadband internet access
Hotspot operator, has
slashed the price of its "
unlimited" UK + Ireland pricing plan by 20% to just £11.95 per month.
On top of that the operator has also
added nearly 120,000 more hotspots to the plan's region since launching a year ago. At launch it had just over 5,000 hotspots in the UK and Ireland (total 125,000 UK and Ireland Wi-Fi Hotspots).
Boingo's VP of Consumer Marketing, Dawn Callahan, said:
"People have come to expect readily accessible high speed Internet access on-the-go, but mobile broadband prices remain high and, increasingly, mobile plans are capped in terms of data consumption. We want to make it easy and affordable for people to stay connected, without worrying about their mobile broadband data limits.
We launched this plan with a little over 5,000 hotspots in the UK and Ireland. We now offer Boingo customers in the UK and Ireland unlimited Wi-Fi access at more than 125,000 locations, and we’ve lowered the price 20%. That’s great news for consumers."
The plan itself allows Wi-Fi access on up to 2 laptops and promises
broadband speeds that are up to 3x faster than traditional Mobile Broadband services. In addition, there are no contracts and no cancellation fees.
Customers who roam outside of the UK and Ireland region can access more than 200,000 additional Boingo hotspots throughout the world for £0.09 to £0.13 per minute. In total Boingo is home to
325,000 wi-fi hotspots worldwide.
