Business ISP
MLL Telecom has claimed in a new inforgraphic that
Ethernet First Mile (EFM) technology, which uses local loop unbundling ( LLU ) via old style copper telephone lines, can not only be just as fast but also
50% cheaper than an equivalent fibre optic based broadband solution.
The graphic below claims to detail the bandwidth and costs savings that you can expect from EFM with local loop unbundling, depending upon how far away your site (business) is from the local telephone exchange. However, there are plenty of holes to pick with MLL's comparison, but we'll leave that up to you.
It goes without saying that this graphic may well present a somewhat overly optimistic and confusing vision of comparable EFM costs and capabilities, although it's difficult to tell because neither the stated EFM or "
Fibre Solution" used has been properly defined.
