ISPreview.co.uk has just completed a
full database update of our various
UK ISP Listings, which covers well over 200 internet providers, to
ensure that all our listed packages and prices are in sync. This task is performed several times each year, alongside frequent casual updates as new prices are announced.
Sadly we cannot list every package for each ISP because we try to cover all consumer providers in the market and, for a free site like ours, it would be an almost impossible task to keep everything up to date. Instead we use a benchmark system of price and performance, of which only one or two packages are selected at the upper (premium) and lower (budget) ends. By contrast most commercial comparison websites list only the largest 6 to 10 providers.
Approximately
19 providers were removed in this update, mostly because they had either gone out of business, been acquired by another ISP or simply failed to comply with our rules (
ISP Submission Details) by not listing public price details or failing to use a correct UK contact address etc. A few others had websites that didn't appear to function.
Karoo (KCOM) was also renamed to
KC and Opal to
TalkTalk Business in our listings, so as to reflect their current identities.
