Rupert Murdoch Select Committee Hearing Triggers Surge in UK Internet Traffic

Business ISP Fluidata has kindly sent ISPreview.co.uk some interesting broadband traffic data from Tuesday's now infamous appearance by media mogul Rupert Murdoch before the UK governments Culture Select Committee.The event, which directly related to the fallout from News Corporation's phone hacking scandal and featured a juvenile yet entertaining pie attack on Murdoch himself, caused office internet traffic to surge with a 45% increase on Monday's peak traffic.
The traffic surge, which ended up being even "higher than Wimbledon", was most likely caused by office workers hopping online to catch-up on the events via web-based video streaming services like the BBC's iPlayer .
