A UK Satellite ISP,
Bentley Walker, has announced a new deal with
Hughes Europe that will see the internet provider expanding its range of services to include broadband packages from Avanti's latest
HYLAS 1 (
Highly Adaptable Satellite) spacecraft, which offers download speeds of up to 10Mbps to anywhere in the country.
Anthony Walker, CEO of Bentley Walker, explained:
"The availability of Ka-band represents a major step forward in the provision of broadband for all, making it a reality across the UK. With our strong history of success working with Hughes Europe, together with its reputation for technical excellence, we are delighted to be among the first resellers to take full advantage of the new broadband services for consumers."
Matthew O’Connor, Avanti Communication's COO, added:
"As a result of strong commercial demand, the satellite industry already contributes substantially to the UK economy. The addition of Ka-band high-speed satellite services for both consumers and businesses can only add to this success story."
It's interesting to note that Bentley Walker already provides consumer satellite services via
Eutelsat's competing
KA-SAT platform, which offers download speeds of 6Mbps and a 4GB usage allowance (12GB until 30th September 2011) from just £24.99 per month. At the time of writing the ISP had not yet begun to offer any Avanti solutions.
