BT revealed last month that the coverage of its "
advanced copper" ADSL2+ broadband service (
Wholesale Broadband Connect), which offers ISP download speeds of up to 20-24Mbps, would be extended to
cover 90% of the UK (22.5 million homes and businesses) by the end of
Spring 2013 (
here).
At present some 1351 telephone exchanges, which serve more than 70% of premises, have already been WBC enabled and this is set to hit
80% by the end of 2011 (20 million premises). Today BT has kindly furnished ISPreview.co.uk with a
full list of all the forthcoming exchange upgrades (i.e. those destined "
to be enabled" by the end of Q2-2013), which we've filtered and sorted into alphabetical order.
Sadly the list, which is only a "
forward-looking plan" and therefor still subject to change, is far too long for us to paste and so to save space we've thrown all of it onto a separate page. Due to "
operational reasons" a handful of exchanges have had to be removed from the current enablement plan.
A BT Spokesperson explained to ISPreview.co.uk
"All forward looking plans are subject to change. However, the expectations reflected in this forward-looking plan are reasonable, but because our rollout involves risks and uncertainties, actual results may differ materially from those expressed or implied by these forward-looking plans."
