The Yorkshire-based
Fibre Data Services (FDS), which specialises in mapping UK telecoms network assets, has informed ISPreview.co.uk of how it's currently engaged in a new project that will see approximately
500 homes in
North Wales being connected up to an ultrafast
Fibre-to-the-Home ( FTTH ) 100Mbps+ capable broadband service.
A Spokesman for FDS told ISPreview.co.uk:
"We have just been engaged to work on a project in North Wales to look at a fibre to the home deployment for 500 homes and are in the process of reporting on the existing fibre maps of the area and also the provisioning of the new services back to Manchester telicity for direct IP transit. This will be a fit for purpose stand alone network owned and run by the new start up."
FDS currently focuses on providing information, mapping and reports of existing fibre assets; both public and private. They also work in rural "
Not Spots", which often turn out to have
hidden legacy assets and ducting (i.e. cable ducts) from the over 27 carriers that they report on.
Unfortunately FDS was either unwilling or unable to furnish us with any further details, such as where in North Wales the new network is going to be or which ISP is involved. We hope to have more details on this in the near future.
