Rutland Telecom (RT), which is a part of the UK
Gigaclear company, has announced that visitors to the
Market Place in rural
Uppingham (
Leicestershire) town will soon be able to benefit from
free wireless internet ( Wi-Fi ) access.
The effort, which effectively throws out a wireless net
across the centre of the town and gives everyone access to it, was conducted as part of a partnership with the local community group -
Uppingham First.
Rutland Telecom's Managing Director, Christer Karlsson, said:
"Connectivity in the heart of the town has been a problem for too long, and our work with The Falcon Hotel has been a great opportunity to solve this problem once and for all."
James Torbell, Director of the local Falcon Hotel, added:
"Between our three hospitality units we want to create a vibrant environment catering to all needs, whether sitting down to work away from the office, or just wanting to check on your social networking.
We feel the work we have done with Rutland Telecom offering free wi-fi is giving something back to all of our customers and promoting Uppingham as a meeting place for all in Rutland and the surrounding areas."
The new service will be officially launched as part of an informal celebration, held at
The Falcon Hotel, on Tuesday 6th December 2011. Local residents, businesses and visitors have all been invited to join for hot drinks, sweet treats with giveaways. We suspect that the hotel is going to be quite heavily booked.
