Multiple UK ISPs have this afternoon reported that BT's national broadband network is being affected by a "
major service failure", which is mostly impacting customers on its newer 21CN platform in southern England.
Eclipse Internet Statement (14:06:00)
"Affected broadband lines are now reconnected, however as a result of this incident some customers are experiencing slower than normal broadband performance.
Until BT have resolved this incident the performance levels will remain lower than normal.
Further updates will be supplied as we receive them from BT."
The situation is in addition to BT's on-going
Matter Beyond Our Reasonable Control (MBORC) declaration, which relates to the recent stormy weather. This has continued to cause "
significant" damage to the operators
overhead network, especially in
Scotland. Floods and high winds are the main culprits.
BT claims to have brought in "
additional resources" and is utilising "
overtime working so that we can recover service as quickly as possible".
