Cheshire-based Internet provider Vispa has quitely revealed that their little known
City Wireless service, which operates in
Manchester, has managed to record download speeds of up to
100Mbps in the city's southern areas.
The superfast broadband service itself has actually been around for awhile, albeit still only being run as a
trial, and officially offers download speeds of up to 80Mbps (10Mbps uploads) to homes for just
£11.99 per month (£99 one-off installation) on a 12 month contract.
Back in 2008 Vispa announced that it was "
in talks with several urban/city centre councils with regards to providing wireless broadband on a grand scale," although so far the service hasn't been able to extend beyond some parts of Manchester.
