Mobile operator EE (4GEE) has announced that its 4G (LTE) based Mobile Broadband network, which currently reaches more than 70% of the UK population, is now available from another 12 towns. Coverage has also been improved on “key routes” between Edinburgh – Glasgow and Cardiff – Swansea.

Overall EE’s 4G network is now available in 187 towns across the UK and the latest 12 to be added include: Antrim, Coleraine and Newtownabbey in Northern Ireland; Bridgend and Pontypool in Wales; Livingstone in Scotland; and Burnley, Leigh, Macclesfield, Nuneaton, Sittingbourne and Tamworth in England.

Olaf Swantee, CEO of EE, said:

Our 4G rollout is continuing at an industry-leading pace, reaching more and more people in places right across the UK. We’re connecting major towns to make sure that consumers, commuters and businesses have 4G where they live and where they work. As well as expanding our 4G network into new areas, our teams are switching on new 4G sites in our existing 4G cities and towns to make the EE network experience even better.”

It’s worth pointing out that EE’s “double speed” (up to 150Mbps) 4GEE service is also now available across 20 UK cities including Belfast, Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Derby, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, Liverpool, London, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham, Sheffield, Southampton, Sunderland, Sutton Coldfield, Walsall, West Bromwich and Wolverhampton. A boost up to 300Mbps is also still being tested via LTE-Advanced technology (aka – true 4G).

Tariffs for the 4G service now start at just £13.99 per month.
