The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) has this afternoon begun the hunt for next year’s UK ISP industry award finalists, which covers various familiar categories (e.g. Best Rural Broadband Provider) and some new ones (e.g. The Best Project or Partnership).

The state aid supported Better Broadband for Oxfordshire partnership with Openreach (BT) has today claimed to have successfully completed their Phase 2 contract by helping to extend “superfast broadband” (24Mbps+) connectivity to cover 95%+ of the county by the end of 2017 as planned.

The engineers at AAISP (Andrews and Arnold) look to have become contenders for the oddball experiment of the day award after they successfully made an ADSL based broadband connection “work” over 2 metres of wet string (at the surprisingly quick pace of 3.5Mbps), as opposed to the usual metallic wiring.
