5G Conspiracy Theorists Hire Lawyer to Sue UK Gov Over Health Fears

The Action Against 5G mobile group, which holds to a widely debunked conspiracy theory that “radio-frequency radiation from masts and wireless devices puts health and life at risk“, has crowd-funded £105K to hire barrister Michael Mansfield QC in order to take legal action against the UK Government to stop the roll-out.

London UK Team Achieves Record 178Tbps Single Fibre Speed

Scientists at the Optical Networks division of University College London (UCL) have successfully used experimental “hybrid discrete Raman and rare-earth doped fibre amplifiers” to achieve a record single core, single mode fibre throughput (net) speed of 178.08 Terabits per second over a distance of 40km.

The original promise of “fibre-like” broadband speeds from SpaceX’s future mega constellation of small Low Earth Orbit (LEO) Starlink satellites may not materialise. A leak of early speedtests from beta customers in the USA point to “superfast” (30Mbps+), but not “ultrafast” (100Mbps+), levels of performance. Fine.. but not “fibre“.

A new research paper on the future Wi-Fi 7 (802.11be Extremely High Throughput) standard, which won’t be commercialised until late 2024, has revealed a lot more detail about what sort of technical features we can expect. Peak wireless speeds of 30Gpbs (Gigabits per second) and even lower latency are top of that list.
