Full fibre ISP Hyperoptic, which is building a new gigabit-capable FTTP/B broadband network across parts of 43 UK towns and cities (mostly large residential buildings and office blocks), has announced the appointment of Lisa Neale, a former Openreach Director, to be their new MD of Infrastructure.
Lisa originally joined BT as an engineer at the age of just 18 and, until recently, she held a number of leadership roles at their Openreach division, including the Director of Fibre Build in UK East, and Director of Fibre and Network Delivery in UK West. She will now be responsible for delivering the company’s network rollout ambitions.
Hyperoptic’s network already covers well over 600,000 premises (estimated), although they’d previously expressed an ambition to cover 5 million UK premises by the end of 2024 (mostly in urban areas). But it’s unclear whether that goal still stands after the recent slowdown in progress (here) and today’s announcement doesn’t clarify what their current “ambitions” actually are.
Dana Tobak, CEO of Hyperoptic, said:
“Lisa is a phenomenal exec and I am delighted to welcome her to the leadership team. As we build a new network that is fit for the future, we need to have the best and brightest in the industry to enable us to build out our network effectively and quickly. I am confident that Lisa’s experience and attitude will be a huge asset to Hyperoptic.”
End.
Yet another talented individual to be leaving Openreach.
Condolences to Kevin who will no doubt feel the loss.
Kevin left months ago.
very few chances to progress upwards when you get to that level alredy- so you would have to go elsewhere
Zig-zagging in the corporate world is also a way of increasing remuneration.
Very few candidates who would understand all the issues around this.
