A new report claims that around 7 out of 10 Sky Broadband customers have enabled the ISPs network-level filtering (Parental Controls), which was enforcedly introduced last year by all of the largest broadband ISPs to help block “adult content” from young eyes. Sadly it doesn’t always work as intended.

The Broadband Delivery UK office has informed ISPreview.co.uk that the Digital Rutland project, which originally aimed to help BT roll-out “high-speed fibre broadband” (FTTC/P) to 97% of the county by the end of 2013, has found “savings” worth £1.07m that can be reinvested to reach near universal cover.

The Government has published a new document that very roughly sets out some of the legislation that will be made over the coming months and years in order to ensure the delivery of “world-class digital infrastructure in every part of the UK“. Some of BT’s residential broadband subscribers report that their connections have recently been assigned an IPv6 Internet address, which has caused a few to speculate that the ISP might soon be ready to begin full scale customer trials. But you might have to wait a little bit longer for that.

The CEO of BT’s Consumer Division, John Petter, has today hit back at Sky (Sky Broadband) for calling on Ofcom to launch a competition review of the operators BTOpenreach division. BT has now similarly demanded that the regulator include Pay TV into its Digital Communications Review and tackle Sky’s “dominance“.

Networking IT kit manufacturer ZyXEL has published a new European Home Broadband Satisfaction study of five somewhat random EU countries including the UK, Germany, Netherlands, Czech Republic and Sweden. Sadly the UK only came third due to 20% of consumers being unhappy with their service speeds and other gripes with support.
