UK Power Networks Refutes BT Claim that it’s a Monopoly in the Fibre Space

UK Power Networks, which delivers electricity to 8 million homes and businesses across London, the South East and East of England, has angrily refuted claims by the CEO of BTOpenreach, Liv Garfield, that it’s acting as a “monopoly” by making some of BT’s street cabinets too commercially unviable to upgrade with superfast broadband (FTTC).

EE and Orange UK Home Broadband ISP Subscribers Rise to 723000

The total number of EE’s (Orange UK) fixed line Home Broadband subscribers have increased to 723,000 in Q3-2012, which represents a pleasant quarterly growth of +9,000 from the meagre 714,000 recorded in its previous Q2 results when only +1,000 were added.

BT Has No General Plan to Disguise UK Superfast Broadband Street Cabinets

BTOpenreach, which manages access to BT’s national UK telecoms network, has confirmed to ISPreview.co.uk that it has no general plans to disguise street cabinets. The confirmation follows an earlier suggestion by the government’s culture spokesman, Viscount Younger, that “plans [were] afoot to camouflage” the big green FTTC boxes.
