Sheffield-based Internet and phone provider PlusNet has announced that it will open a new office in Leeds (England) during October 2013 that should, over the next three years, result in the creation of at least 250 new jobs (making for a total of 1100 employees by 2016).

Internet access and phone provider PlusNet appears to have quietly tweaked its recently introduced 12 months half price broadband promotion (offer details) to adopt a 12 month contract term instead of the previous 18 month one.

Internet provider PlusNet has enhanced its existing promotion of half price broadband and calls by extending the length of their offer from 9 to 12 months. Likewise their superfast fibre broadband (FTTC) packages will also change from 3 months half price to 6 months.

The Tuesday night launch of Microsoft’s new XBox One console triggered a “big spike” in UK internet traffic as people tuned-in to the various live video streams and websites. Traffic on one of the Content Delivery Networks within TalkTalk’s infrastructure rose from 80Gbps (Gigabits per second) to 120Gbps and the same was true of other ISPs.
