O2 UK Complete 4G and 5G Upgrades for 3,000 Postcodes in Glasgow

Mobile network operator O2 (Virgin Media) has today revealed that – over the past 12-months – they’ve completed a project to upgrade the capacity of their 4G and 5G mobile services across “over” 3,000 postcodes in the city of Glasgow (Scotland), which should bring “faster” mobile broadband speeds and greater reliability to the area.

Ofcom has today published their 2025 study of UK broadband, phone and mobile service quality, call waiting times, complaint levels, fault repairs, compensation and install times for the largest providers. For example, TalkTalk attracted the lowest satisfaction for broadband (77%) and Plusnet (BT) secured the highest (91%).

A new report claims that debt-laden Telefonica SA is allegedly drawing up plans that would enable them to take control of the 50/50 UK Joint Venture (JV) that it owns with Liberty Global, which reflects broadband and mobile provider Virgin Media and O2 (VMO2). Nexfibre, which shares some of their parentage with ISP partner Virgin Media (O2), recently published their latest quarterly (Q1 2025) build update and confirmed that their new 10Gbps capable Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP / XGS-PON) broadband network now covers 2.2 million UK premises. But a big chunk of their future build plan for 2025-26 has now vanished.
