The latest third quarter results from France Telecom have revealed that its UK division,
Orange, had 1,142,000 broadband ADSL customers at the end of last month, which is an increase of 52,000 over the previous quarter ending June 2007:
In the UK, third quarter ADSL revenue was up due to an 11.0% year-on-year increase in the number of accesses and to the growing share of these ADSL accesses sold as unbundled lines, reaching 26.7% of the total at 30 September 2007, compared to 13.7% a year earlier. This offset most of the drop in narrowband Internet and in portal revenues.
This represents a slow return to growth for
Orange, which had effectively stalled during the second quarter after only being able to add roughly 5,000 new ADSL customers. The operators recent broadband revamp is expected to continue this growth into Q4 and possibly even speed it up.
