In quite possibly one of the most entertaining ISP attacks we've seen in a long while, somebody has created a spoof eBay auction claiming to sell
Gio Internet's remaining customers.
The auction, which can be viewed
HERE, currently has a price of £6,600 after being bid on by 15 other people. However, upon reading the description it's clear that a certain level of humour is involved:
GIO Internet Customers For Sale
Please feel free to purchase a set of well used and abused GIO customers.
Whilst the initial starting price may be cheap, ongoing costs may be expensive once wescot debt recovery charges have been filed.
The winning bidder will receive a full set of roughly 3500 dial up user accounts and 2 ADSL accounts. We can also provide roughly 500 saps oops sorry upset customers details who have since left our services but could become good spam material.
also the winning bidder, providing its over £2.50 will get a free curry in Oldham once per week whilst the new company is running.
Also as a special offer for a winning bid over £50 we will send you a years supply of eco grow which you can then give to your customers as an incentive to use your ADSL products. The auction comes just a day or two after it emerged that both the
Gio Internet and
Activeware brands had found a new buyer, with remaining customers moving on to an alternative ISP.
