The latest figures for SPAM generation from Sophos show that most of the worlds junk e-mail still comes from the USA (35%), with South Korea hanging on a close second (25%) and the UK holding ninth with 1.6%:
"Although the USA is responsible for producing more than a third of all of the world's spam, its percentage contribution has decreased," said Graham Cluley, senior technology consultant for Sophos.
"The percentage of spam sent from American computers has fallen 12% since the start of the year compared to other countries."

VNUNet item notes that over half of all such messages are still generated by zombie computers. These are systems that have been hijacked by malicious Trojan software.
