MetroNet has announced price reductions to their PAYGo 'S' (20:1) Broadband ADSL packages. For example, the 2Mbps PAYGoS2000 service, which previously had a minimum monthly cost of £47 inc. vat and came with 20GB of usage, now costs just £27.99 with 150GB:
Unlike Pay-as-you-go ADSL services offered by other providers services at MetroNet come with a maximum monthly cost cap but no usage cap, port blocking or traffic shaping and extra usage is charged per MB rather than
per GB with no usage pre-purchase required as bills are generated monthly in arrears rather than in advance.
What's more there's no Fair Usage Policy or peak/off-peak usage restrictions to worry about. Plus all packages include free firewall and content filtering tools.
"Up to now 20:1 services have been sold by ISPs primarily as Office or Business grade products with 50:1 services predominant for home users. We don't see the need to differentiate this any longer as home users have equally valid uses for enhanced Broadband services as any business. Something we are sure to see other ISPs realise soon. In removing this unnecessary discrimination we're opening up a previously out-of-reach product set to all types of users and without a need to dictate how they use their Broadband." Paresh Morjaria, General Manager, MetroNet.
