The CEO of UK ISP PlusNet, Lee Strafford, has stepped down from his position and left the provider. The finance director, Neil Comer, has also vacated the building. Replacing Strafford will be Neil Laycock, as an acting CEO.
The news follows BT's recent acquisition of the ISP and isn't surprising, such changes often occur after a major shake-up. PlusNet's Ian Wild issued the following statement:
Today we announced to staff that Lee Strafford, our CEO, is no longer with PlusNet. Lee was instrumental in growing PlusNet from a small ISP in Sheffield into a nationally recognised brand, and oversaw the acquisition of PlusNet by BT earlier this year. Neil Laycock, who has been with PlusNet for 3 years, will take over the position of acting CEO with immediate effect.
Everyone here is focussed on delivering on our plans for 2007, which are aimed at ensuring that as an ISP we are providing the best value to our customers, along with a great customer service and a network that performs reliably and is scaled for future growth.
It's understood that the timetable for integrating PlusNet into BT will not be affected, although since the operator refuses to elaborate on that then it's not saying much.
PlusNet itself has successfully managed to anger a lot of its customers over the past few months, following numerous service, support and quality issues.
