Micronet has announced the introduction of several new one-way broadband satellite packages, offering speeds of up to 5Mbps (downstream). Prices are based on a choice of either a
Wi-Fi style credit quota or monthly (max £39.99 per month) model:
Micronet has just launched a whole host of one-way satellite internet services including a new service that requires no telephone line (users just dial up to the system using the mobile phone network, and use their free minutes to connect) you can see more details at
http://www.getbroadbandanywhere.com .
Typically one-way services require a separate connection to manage the upstream transfer, which is usually governed by a dialup modem or ISDN line. In the above service it's also possible to use your mobile phone, which is something we haven't seen before.
Unfortunately hardware prices range from a comparatively cheap (this is Satellite after all) £195 to the crazy heights of £1,800.
