Ex-Biscit SDSL Users Offered Help By FMN & Fluidata

Posted: 20th Mar, 2007 By: MarkJ
It shouldn't be forgotten that business connections were also impacted by Biscit's flop. Today both SDSL broadband suppliers Fusion Media Networks (FMN) and Fluidata have announced their own lifelines for related users. Firstly FMN..:

Business ISP Fusion Media Networks Ltd (FMN) today offered a lifeline to businesses left stranded following the closure of Biscit Internet Ltd

As the Biscit administration story unfolds, the focus so far has been on the residential users affected, and the efforts by BT to provide MAC codes to enable them to switch providers swiftly and without further cost.

However, due to the unique way in which a dedicated data line such as SDSL is provisioned, it is virtually impossible to migrate services over, and necessitates the activation of a new line and installation at Customer premises. Business SDSL users therefore need to pay for a new install from scratch, for which some providers charge up to £600 plus VAT.

In recognition of this, FMN is offering free activation on uncontended SDSL connections for a limited period for existing Biscit SDSL customers.

FMN already offers probably the most competitively priced uncontended SDSL services in the UK, and the free activation means a current Biscit customer can enjoy (subject to survey) 1:1 Contention 2Mb SDSL from just £269 plus VAT per month (12 month contract) with no setup costs.

FMN also offers free activation or migration on 12 month contracts for all new ADSL customers, including uncapped Max ADSL services.

Please contact FMN’s Account Managers on 08707 709101 for further details or visit http://www.fmn.uk.net/biscit.php

Fluidata issued us with an update too, although while they don't offer a specific promotion, they do claim to have a method for speeding the migration process up:

I thought it would be worth dropping you a quick email to let you know that we are currently receiving a high number of calls from Biscit customers who have had their SDSL services terminated today. Unfortunately with all the talk of BT’s MAC codes for Biscit ADSL customers, it appears that the many business have been left without connectivity and with no means of transfer as BT do not yet allow SDSL migrations.

We have a means of expediting SDSL orders on Cable & Wireless Access’ network which means businesses can be up and running again with SDSL within a few weeks. Alternatively Fluidata’s BURST product which offers 20 Mb/s down and 2 Mb/s up with a 10:1 contention can be processed within 3 days minimising disconnected companies downtime.

Typically business customers should take the time to explore both options fully, since such services are typically somewhat more expensive than their ADSL based residential counterparts.
