The Office of the Telecoms Adjudicator (OTA) has issued its latest report into local loop unbundling, which damned the lack of progress being made and strongly criticised BT for its failings. Unsurprisingly
Bulldog has now issued its response, strongly supporting the OTA's findings:
Todays Telecoms Adjudicator report endorses Bulldogs experiences in recent months. We share the Adjudicators disappointment at the continued instability of BTs automated provisioning system, which diverted resources into managing the inadequacies of the system and impaired the quality of service we have been able to offer our customers.
It is now urgent that work is intensified on a fit for purpose and reliable Name and Address Database. In our view this is already overdue and every possible means should be employed to complete this ahead of the December 2005 deadline.
Bulldog customers and potential customers expected this system to be up and running by May 2005. Five months on we expect to see a greater degree of progress than has been evident to date and a greater sense of urgency.BT claims that it's new equal access network group (Openreach) has these provisioning issues at the top of its agenda, although that has done little to quell the criticism.
Yesterday 'Be' confirmed that it had also been faced with similar problems, while we've heard the same thing from other
LLU based broadband ISP's.
Clearly this is a major problem and BT is continuing to fail both customers and ISPs alike, leading many to become suspicious of its motives.
