Be has today issued a new service update covering some of the problems experienced over its first few weeks of operating a 24Mbps ADSL2+ service. Slow support responses, delayed orders and connection issues are all mentioned.
Apparently it hasn't all been plain sailing for 'Be', with three areas in particular proving problematic. To summarise:
1) Slower than expected order processing.
2) Line instability and connection problems.
3) Slow customer support.
The support backlog caused by no.1 and 2 has unsurprisingly been the main cause for no.3. Thankfully improvements to the first and second area are on the way. There has also been a delay to getting exchanges in HACKNEY, SHEPHERDS BUSH and NEW CROSS enabled.
Overall we expected such problems to surface because after all, no other ISP has escaped difficulties with
LLU, so why should 'Be'?
However unlike some, 'Be' has been quick to confirm its problems and explain them to customers. Those rushing to adopt a 24Mbps should know the risks of being at the bleeding edge of technology. Hopefully the issues can be resolved before they have a more negative impact.
