RedKite has expanded it's broadband '
WiMAX-ready' wireless service into London following a successful uptake in Oxford. Initial packages will deliver speeds of up to 20Mbps, which is double the 10Mbps that they previously promoted:
The RedKite service will initially be available up to 20Mbps but greater bandwidth options are likely to be added to service range in the coming months. Businesses in central London will also have the choice of either a contended or uncontended service. All service options guarantee better than 99.9% availability and come with a Service Level Agreement as standard.
Community Internet continues its partnership with Radionet, having chosen to use the companys equipment for its London service as it did in Oxford. The support for OSPF routing in Radionets base station and customer premises equipment allows RedKite to be an integral component in combined wired and wireless solutions.
The ability to deliver RedKite to customers in a matter of days along with ongoing technical support as standard, has helped Community Internet to win a wide range of businesses in Oxford, including the Oxford Centre for Innovation:
Its the same speed up and down, which ADSL isnt. A few of us use Voice over IP within the company and that is a lot nicer over RedKite than over ADSL. It also makes sending large files and emails so much quicker than using an ADSL connection, commented Peter Ellis, IT Manager at Oxford Centre for Innovation.
The success of the pilot in Oxford has led the company to offer the service in London with the roll-out planned for other major business locations in the coming months.
