BT has today revealed that more than one million homes and businesses in the South East have connected to its broadband services. The region is the first in the UK, including London, to reach this target:
Just three months ago BT announced that it had hit five million broadband users in the UK and 880,000 were in the South East.
It signals fantastic take-up of the popular product across the region with an average of 40,000 new connections per month.
The one million customers include:
107000 in Berkshire
110000 in Buckinghamshire
92000 in East Sussex
184000 in Hampshire
12100 in Isle of Wight
180000 in Kent
76000 in Oxfordshire
142000 in Surrey
99000 in West Sussex
By the end of summer BTs £1.5 billion national investment programme will have finished in the South East when the final exchanges are upgraded, bringing broadband potential to 99.9 per cent of premises.
