Tiscali is preparing to launch a new Personal Information Management (P.I.M) service in order to bolster its TiscaliPlus product. Users will be able to send and receive email, store/share multimedia content and manage personal information via a network address book and calendar:
These advanced applications, provided by Memova Messaging, are accessible via the Web and mobile devices, and subscribers can synchronize personal information across mobile phones, PDAs and desktop PC clients.
By enabling users to store personal information on our network and access it from any mobile or fixed-line device, Memova has supported us in our own efforts to turn TiscaliPlus into a central communications hub for our subscribers, said Salvatore Pulvirenti, CIO, Tiscali S.p.A. Additionally, new services enabled by Memova that allow subscribers to easily store and share photos and other multimedia content are completely consistent with Tiscalis strategy to foster broadband usage.
Along with the email, PIM and multimedia file services Tiscali is offering on its portals, Memova Messaging provides additional services operators can easily turn on or off with basic class-of-service provisioning, including a full suite of messaging and collaboration services for small businesses. Key features, such as the platforms address book, can be easily extended to support applications beyond email and PIM synchronization, such as push-to-talk, IM, conferencing and VoIP services. The address book also serves as a solid foundation for service providers rolling out converged communications services and IMS platforms. The technology is currently being used in the Netherlands and should soon be offered to Italy, Germany and the UK.
