BT Wholesale has agreed a new deal with iomart to distribute the groups NetIntelligence (NI) software to UK ISP's. NI offers security and parental control for several computers in broadband-connected homes:
It provides full anti-virus protection, blocks inappropriate web sites, monitors and records Instant Messenger and chat, and gives a full view of all users activity in easy to understand reports. The product has been specifically designed for non technical families.
NetIntelligence, which can be fully customised and branded by the ISP, will be marketed as a value add service or bundled to complement existing internet and broadband portfolios.
Angus MacSween, iomarts Chief Executive, commented "We are delighted to have secured this agreement with BT which represents an important endorsement of our technology and its market leading capabilities. All internet users, especially children are entitled to an abuse-free online environment and it is important that internet service providers make it as easy as possible for consumers to control their experience of the world-wide web.
With over 4.4 million DSL broadband subscribers currently in the UK , nearly all of whom are ultimately supplied by BT Wholesale, we believe that this agreement represents a significant opportunity for both parties.
Just like the 'StreamShield' announcement below, we now have to wait and see who adopts it.
