BT has today launched a broadband 'Internet Radio' service, which will allow customers to access live and on-demand music wirelessly in and around the home:
Earlier this year the BBC reached 20 million hours of live internet radio and 12 million 'Listen Again'/On-demand' hours in one month alone *. The growth of internet radio means that there are now over 5,000 stations available across the world, and growing fast.
Internet radio represents the next step forward from DAB radio technology. DAB brought us instant access to a new, broad selection of UK based digital stations - more channels than you could squeeze onto an FM radio. Internet radio allows you to tune in to these, but more importantly, gives you access to a worldwide selection of radio stations, via broadband internet, and on-demand! Many internet radio stations even allow you to listen-again in case you missed your favourite show.
Using a wireless broadband connection, the BT Internet Radio lets you listen to your favourite radio stations from anywhere in the world, over the internet, from talk-back, pop music through to special interest and sport, all in the comfort of your own home - maybe its in the kitchen whilst cooking, in the dining room whilst entertaining, or relaxing in the bedroom - it could be anywhere around the home, within range of a wireless broadband connection.
This sleek and compact system is designed to complement the BT Home Hub as part of the BT Total Broadband offering (although it is compatible with any broadband ISP and wireless router). It is also fully plug and play and can access music and mp3s stored on your computer allowing you to listen to all those favourite songs you have downloaded.
Compatible with PC and Mac audio playlists and Media player software, the BT Internet Radio will revolutionise access to music, across the globe.
The new product is available via BT's Shop (
