Entanet's recent decision to impose more restrictive off-peak broadband usage hours upon all of its existing ADSL products (
Thursdays news) has been delayed. The move follows pressure from Entanet's vISP clients, which includes the likes of
Aquiss, ADSL24, UKFSN and many more.
The change, which was originally due to take effect from 2nd January 2009, gave Entanet's clients very little time to adjust their products and appeared to cause some considerable frustration among many end-users too.
Entanet quickly responded by delaying the change until 19th January 2009, thus giving a fair 30 days of notice. However a new customer service update from the founder of
Aquiss, Martin Pitt, states that the adjustment has now been put on hold pending further discussions:
Martin Pitt said: "
Following my personal announcement earlier this morning, we have received a rather unexpected call around 4.20pm this evening [19th Dec] from our wholesale suppliers to inform us, that after careful consideration they have taken the decision to defer any change to the current peak/off-peak times until they have discussed the matter further with key partners, such as Aquiss. This is expected to take place in January. Therefore my detailed email this morning can be ignored.
Naturally I am delighted to be able to bring you this news, especially after the amount of pressure we have continued to pile on them today. Thankfully at the 11th hour they have come to there senses, and we are now in a position of giving ourselves, and you our customers, greater voice, which is all we have been asking for over the past week."
Most existing 'up to' 8Mbps products currently have an off-peak period of 22:00 to 08:00 weekdays and Friday 22:00 through to Monday 08:00. Under the new rules this would have changed to the stricter regime of 00:00hrs to 08:00hrs (7 days a week).
