Sources inform us that the off-peak usage period for all of Entanet's broadband ADSL services will be brought into line with their newer 'up to' 24Mbps (ADSL2+) products from 2nd January 2009 next year.
Most existing 'up to' 8Mbps products currently have an off-peak period of 22:00 to 08:00 weekdays and Friday 22:00 through to Monday 08:00. This will now change to the stricter regime of 00:00hrs to 08:00hrs (7 days a week).
The move, which is perhaps not unexpected and has been feared for awhile now, will affect all of Entanet's vISPs, including ADSL24,
Aquiss and UKFSN to name three of many. Customers are expected to receive a message tomorrow informing them of the changes.
The result is that customers will have less flexibility over use of their off-peak broadband data allowances. Typically the reasons for this move are unclear although
BT's recent wholesale price rises can't have helped.
There are also fears that this latest move may not be the last and further restrictions could be in store, though its far too early to speculate.
