Telewest's ISP wing,
blueyonder, has stolen a march on BT's still unofficial dialup to broadband subscriber promotion. From Monday next week (1st Nov) the cost of its 256Kbps package will be reduced to just £14.99 per month (first year of use only):
Telewest Broadband is giving UK consumers using a dial-up internet connection little choice but to take broadband - by offering its 256k blueyonder internet service for less, or at the same price as competing unlimited dial-up services.*
From Monday 1 November Telewest Broadband's 256k blueyonder broadband internet service will be available for £14.99 a month for the first year. The cable company is aiming to tip consumers considering switching to broadband over the edge with a no-brainer of a deal.
And unlike some competitor broadband services, there are no usage caps or restrictions. Free installation and free use of a cable modem are also included in the price.**
Eric Tveter, president and chief operating officer at Telewest Broadband, said "It's never been easier to switch to broadband - and now the price is right for hesitant dial-up users to test the broadband water.
There are now no reasons not to take broadband - the price is the same as dial-up but there are none of the frustrations and the advantages are obvious - faster speeds, an always on connection and you can use the phone and the internet at the same time."
