Bulldog Launches £160 2Mbps SDSL

UK ISP Bulldog has launched a new LLU based 2Mbps broadband SDSL (symmetric - same speed both ways) service called 'Bulldog 2&2' for just £160 +vat per month, making it attractive for small businesses:

Bulldog revolutionises broadband services for small businesses. Most mainstream businesses currently make do with 'asymmetric' ADSL broadband services intended for consumers, where the speed for sending send information over the internet is a fraction of the speed at which they receive it. Many businesses need the same level of connection both ways, but until now, such services have been prohibitively expensive. Bulldog's SDSL service, called Bulldog 2&2(tm), now offers businesses a real two-way broadband speed of 2 Mbps in both directions, from and to the internet. Bulldog 2&2 enables small businesses to respond to customers with the speed and quality of the very biggest firms.

Bulldog 2&2 uses Bulldog's Local Loop Unbundling (LLU) technology on Bulldog's own network. This is why Bulldog is able to provide a high-speed SDSL connection at such an affordable price. Bulldog's LLU network is currently available in central and West London only, but with coverage expanding significantly before the year end, Bulldog 2&2 will be available across the UK from early in 2005.

Bulldog 2&2 is available in two versions. Bulldog 2&2 SoHo(tm) is ideal for any small group of professionals where sending as well as receiving large amounts of e-mails or data is important, - architects, photographers, accountants, travel agencies are just some examples. Any business divided across sites will find Bulldog 2&2 SoHo a great tool to enhance productivity. The package costs just £160 a month, plus line and activation fees of £250. Bulldog 2&2 Office(tm) is designed for customers who use an existing LAN and web/mail servers infrastructure. Bulldog 2&2 Office includes a block of eight public IP addresses that the customer can use to address their servers and firewall. Line activation is also £250. Managed installation is available with a choice of equipment starting at £400.

At a market-leading price of just £160 a month many more businesses will now have access to the same professional quality services of the largest businesses." said Richard Greco, CEO of Bulldog Communications.

Both versions of Bulldog 2&2 are currently available exclusively to Central and West London across the Bulldog network. The other service available to businesses in London, especially home offices, is Bulldog 4 Professional(tm) which offers downstream speeds up to 4 Mbps, with an upstream speed up to 400 Kbps. Recently introduced to the market, Bulldog 4 Professional(tm) uses the same LLU technology as Bulldog 2&2 to offer superior speeds at an affordable price of £40 a month. If ordered before the end of August, the cost is just £30 a month for the first three months, and the activation fee is reduced from its normal level of £50 to just £1.

For businesses nationwide, where LLU technology is not yet available, Bulldog offers its BizTime broadband service, which can be selected at speeds of 0.5, 1.0 and 2.0 Mbps. Prices for BizTime services have been reduced, to just £30 for the 0.5 Mbps service to £50 for the 2 Mbps service. An activation fee of £50 applies.
