Following the massive outpouring of anger from ISP's regarding BT's hefty business ADSL price hikes, the UK Internet Service Providers Association (
ISPA) is now preparing for a related meeting with Ofcom on Friday:
Several of ISPA's members are understood to be furious about the price rises, which affect BT's IPStream Office and S range. ISPA has now begun consulting with its members to gauge the feeling of the whole UK Internet industry, and is set to meet Ofcom this Friday to air any concerns.
"Particular ISPs have expressed vociferous views," explained an ISPA spokesman. "We're still finding out what the impact will be on the broadband market".BT has highlighted an unofficial 'margin squeeze' test from Ofcom as their reason for the increases, yet the way they went about it has raised many questions. Smaller providers and those offering long contracts will be hit hardest.
No doubt providers will be looking to Ofcom for support, which has so far remained rather quite on the matter. Hopefully Friday's meeting will bring some clarity. More @
