0845.UK.COM Offers 1 Years Free ADSL

Posted: 21st Jul, 2004 By: MarkJ
UK dialup ISP 0845.UK.COM is offering one years free ADSL access. The catch? You have to surf at least one hour each month (local call rate). Those spending more than 12 hours online could win a lifetime of free ADSL:

Win Free ADSL for 12 Months or Even for Life!

UK Dial-up ISP “0845.UK.COM” has launched a monthly competition to win a one years worth of free ADSL 512Kbps connectivity.

All users of 0845’s free local rate dial-up service spending more than one hour a month online will be entered into the draw, which will take place on the last day of each calendar month starting from August.

As an additional bonus, on December 24th 2004, any users who have spent more than 12 hours online will be entered into a draw to receive free ADSL for the life of the product.

The prize includes the Installation of the 512Kbps 20:1 ADSL service, A USB ADSL modem, the monthly ADSL charges and unlimited use of the ADSL service.

“We know that many customers would upgrade to ADSL if price was not an issue. Unfortunately the simple fact is that ADSL has a fixed cost associated with it, and to a lot of casual internet users, it just does not make financial sense at the moment to upgrade,” said Chris Noon, 0845’s Marketing Manager.

“However we are giving our customers the chance to win an ADSL connection free for twelve months, and one lucky person will win ADSL for life. For those that don’t win this time, they will still be entitled to enter future draws, and in the meantime connect through the best local call rate dial-up Internet service available.”

0845.uk.com’s dial-up service brings customers the best of “free” dial-up Internet services including:

• No set up charges
• No monthly subscription fees
• Pay only for the time you are connected, using a local rate 0845 number
• Fast and reliable 56K dial up & single or dual channel ISDN access
• Very low contention ratios, meaning no engaged tones. Connect to the Internet when you want to connect, not just when you can.
• Helpful technical support team
• Free email account
• Send and receive email from anywhere in the world with our simple to use, browser based web mail
• Email is virus filtered and spam tagged
• Up to 5 email addresses
• 50Mb of storage - ten times more than a free Hotmail account!

All existing customers will be automatically entered into the draw as long as they meet the qualification criteria.

It's worth pointing out that the ISP doesn't offer a broadband ADSL service as standard, but those still using a local call rate service might find the competition appealing.

Mind you, the lifetime offer is harder to judge, especially when you consider that ADSL probably won't be around by the time you kick the bucket. Then again, if BT has it's way..

Some corrections:

The competition runs each month between now and the end of November, meaning we will have four winners + the ADSL for life winner, so the odds are slightly better.

To qualify for the ADSL for life draw, our customers need to have accumulated 12 hours in total by the 24th December 2004, not 12 hours a day or 12 hours a month, just in total.
