WESTELL LIMITED LAUNCHES NEW PRODUCT LINE-UP TO MEET GROWTH IN BROADBAND
Westell Limited, a leading systems developer and manufacturer of high-speed broadband/DSL and VoIP technology access products, is announcing the launch of a new line-up of next generation DSL routers in response to the continuing growth in broadband and the market's requirements for faster connections. The LiteLineTM, ProLineTM and UltraLineTM DSL routers offer fast and simple to install connectivity and the opportunity to share a single Internet connection amongst several users whilst being protected by an integrated firewall. Westell Limited is a subsidiary of Westell Inc., headquartered in Aurora, Illinois.
The ProLine router offers simple installation requiring little or no set-up. It has been designed to comply with the latest ADSL standards (ADSL2, ADSL2+) which offer faster download speeds, providing users with flexible connectivity to the Internet via either a single Ethernet port or optional USB port. It represents a high value, secure solution for both home and small business users. The LiteLine is an entry-level, reduced feature version of the ProLine and is an economical upgrade for dial-up users.
The UltraLine DSL home router enables multiple residential users to simultaneously share a single high speed broadband connection. Four Ethernet ports and a managed switch enable Quality of Service (QoS) for proper load balancing and bandwidth allocation between video, voice and data. An optional USB port is available to provide added flexibility for wired home networking applications. There is advanced support for online gamers, who can save time and effort by using the pre-configured, pull-down menus that support many popular online games. Like LiteLine and ProLine, UltraLine has been designed to comply with ADSL2/2+ standards.
Currently Westell is delivering advanced DSL technology across Europe with customers such as BT, Alcom and Elltepe achieving 12mbps downstream speeds using these new products.
Westell recently announced global revenues for the quarter had increased 13% to $62.1 million from $54.8 million in the fourth quarter of last fiscal year. Total revenues for fiscal year 2004 increased 12% to $235.7 million from $210.0 million for fiscal 2003.
