Inclarity, a provider of Voice over Broadband (VoB/IP) services, has welcomed today's announcement from Ofcom regarding the use of geographic numbering:

Inclarity, a leading provider of Voice over Broadband (VoB) telephony services, has welcomed today's announcement by Ofcom that UK voice over broadband services will be allowed to use geographic numbers, describing it as a boost to the UK's VoB market.
Research conducted by Inclarity on geographic numbering shows that:

* 95 per cent of businesses would prefer to have geographic numbering for VoB services
* 85 per cent of these business would not take up voice over broadband services without it

Inclarity believes that geographic numbering is crucial for the development of VoB services, which will in turn become one of the major drivers of broadband in the UK.

Research carried by the Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA) shows that in the business market, VoB is the 3rd most crucial application driving the take up of broadband and 4th in the residential market.
