By far and away one of the biggest problems facing public broadband wireless LAN (Wi-Fi) hotspots is the fact that most people don't know where to find them. Thankfully one bright person, Rob Knowles, has come up with a solution:
I've recently set-up a personal project for a directory of Wi-Fi Hotspots around the world, at the present moment I've have nearly 4,000 of both free and fee, with locations around the world.
The site's http://www.wififinder.net
Not only can people search for free, but people who operate hotspots can have them listed for free by signing up in our members account panel.
I also wrote a Wi-Fi Guide, how to connect and also for setting one. In addition there's the community area, allowing people to discuss ideas etc, and hopefully I will have the 'Location Wish-List' up soon, to allow people to put down where they would like a hotspot setting up.
I would be most grateful if you can do a news article on this, so I can build the traffic figures up.
Thanks
Rob KnowlesNot a problem Rob, we hope this helps your community. Indeed the site is actually extremely professional and a very clever idea that no doubt a few people will have wished they'd come up with first.
Typically a search of my own area uncovered a total of ZERO hotspots, which is actually quite accurate =).
